Hey there! My name is Bec and I’m one of the newer volunteers at Edge Radio. I’ve been involved with Edge for nearly six months, and I host a healthy wellbeing/lifestyle program called Bec’s Edge on Health. I have a mad passion for healthy living such as mental and physical health, sports, travelling and of course for music. I have, and will continue to, be highly involved in popular Tasmanian music festivals and I am an events/publicity officer for an arts and culture organisation in Hobart. I love discovering new music, going to gigs, and basically all things music-ish. I have just completed my Business/Arts Degree, with a Journalism and Marketing major, and volunteering with Edge is an awesome opportunity to develop skills and learn so much more about the music industry and radio. It’s also a great place to support the Tasmanian music community.
I did a lot of travelling in the month of September, so I listened to a heap of music. I managed to narrow it down to a top 5 for September…. but it easily could have been a list of 100!
1. Sleepless – Flume feat. Anthony For Cleopatra
Despite the name, this song is so good to listen to before you go to sleep. It actually gives you good dreams, yes I sound weird but I promise you it works. Especially when you’re on a plane for 14 hours.
2. 99 Problems – Jay Z
I have just been to America, and I may have turned a bit gangsta’
3. Just to Feel Wanted – Tuka
I love Hip Hop, and this songs makes you move! My favourite quote in the song: “I think life should be about falling madly in love” – Oh yeah Tuka!
4. Cut Fast – Rapids
Everyone now and then I need to feed my addiction for some rock/indie tunes. And this song does the trick.
5. The Art of Darkness – Dark Matter of Storytelling
An awesome Tassie band, and this is a really powerful tune. Magical, actually. I can’t wait to hear more from these guys.
