Edge Radio Recommends

26/07/2010 - 09/08/2010
  • Mystery Jets - Seratonin (Rough Trade)
  • British pop-rockers Mystery Jets dropped their third album in early July. 'Serotonin' is produced by Chris Thomas, whose career has spanned decades of British pop, working with bands like Pink Floyd, the Sex Pistols and Pulp.

  • Best Coast - Crazy For You (Wichita)
  • The long awaited debut album from US two-piece Best Coast has landed. 'Crazy For You' is a collection of twelve hazy, dreamy, and genuinely romantic tracks, inspired by the '50s & '60s.

  • Hello Satellites - Self Titled (Sensory Projects/Two Bright Lakes)
  • Hello Satellites is the new project from Melbourne singer/songwriter Eva Popov. What started out as a solo project has evolved into a full band experience, which delivers to us a delicate debut album of heart-breaking, yet glorious pop.

  • The Books - The Way Out (Temporary Residence)
  • After a five year hiatus, The Books return with their somewhat 60's inspired, psychedelic, mind-bending album 'The Way Out'. It's a challenging album - yet still manages to stay true to The Books' brand of folktronica which we love.

  • Aaron Thomas - Made of Wood (Remote Control)
  • Aaron was born in Hobart, & since then has lived in the Ukraine & the US, but now lives in Madrid. 'Made of Wood' is the follow-up to his debut 'Follow The Elephants'. We're hoping with the release of the LP, he'll make his way back to Tassie for a tour!

    07/06/2010 - SAVE EDGE RADIO
We launched our official 'Save Edge Radio' campaign on Saturday May 29 with our 'Save Edge Radio Rally' in Salamanca Square.
While we are eternally grateful to everyone who contributed during our very first Radiothon, we didn't quite reach our target, which has put us in a bit of a dire financial situation.
Our 'Save Edge Radio' campaign calls upon the Tasmanian Government and educational bodies to recognise the value of Edge Radio to the Tasmanian community, and provide core funding to keep the station broadcasting and operating beyond the next few months.
Although we may receive some core funding, it won't go all the way to keeping us alive - we still need financial support from the community & local business (sponsors) to make sure we remain a vibrant, viable community organisation.

06/06/2010 - Save Edge Radio Rally
Saturday May 29 saw over 150 keen Edge Radio supporters and crew gather in Salamanca Square for the Save Edge Radio Rally. The weather wasn't ideal, but spirits were high with people proudly strutting red clothing & red balloons in support of the rally.

All at Edge Radio would like to extend a BIG thank you to everyone who attended and assisted in the rally, and to everyone who has shown support for Edge during the Radiothon & the Save Edge Radio campaigns.
